Independent short-film screenings
A curated programme of selected UK fiction shorts, presented on the Hall’s projector and screen with its PA sound system. Screenings will be arranged into sessions, with breaks between programmes.

Independent films.
A shared experience.
A new gathering for our town.
Huntingdon Film Festival is a new community celebration of independent cinema, bringing filmmakers and audiences together for a day of short films at Huntingdon Commemoration Hall.
Our first edition is planned for Saturday 19 June 2027 and will champion short storytelling and create space to discover films, share ideas and connect through cinema.
Founded by actor, filmmaker and acting teacher Ryan Laccohee, the festival is being developed in collaboration with the Hall.
Our inaugural edition is planned as a one-day, in-person festival at Huntingdon Commemoration Hall, with short-film screenings for a live audience. The programme is being developed around the following elements.
A curated programme of selected UK fiction shorts, presented on the Hall’s projector and screen with its PA sound system. Screenings will be arranged into sessions, with breaks between programmes.
A separate competition exploring “fear of the unknown”, with the winning film planned to be shown as part of the festival.
The main short-film selection will include awards for Best Film and Best Director. Award arrangements and the running order will be announced with the programme.
The day is intended to bring filmmakers and local audiences together, with opportunities to meet and talk informally during breaks.
This is the anticipated format, rather than a final timetable. Screening times, the film programme, ticket details and any additional activities will be published once confirmed.
Filmmakers selected for the main programme can expect their film to be presented at the physical festival in front of a live audience. Selected filmmakers will receive information about screening arrangements and the exhibition file required ahead of the event.
Filmmakers who attend will have the opportunity to watch the programme and meet other attendees. Attendance arrangements will be confirmed alongside the programme; travel, accommodation and complimentary admission are not currently promised.
Entry and selection will be managed through FilmFreeway. Selection does not guarantee an award. Full eligibility requirements, submission deadlines, notification dates and fees will be set out in the festival’s FilmFreeway listing when submissions open.
Our main selection focuses on UK fiction short films under 15 minutes. Awards will recognise Best Film and Best Director.
What can you make us feel in just one minute? Our themed competition invites filmmakers to explore fear of the unknown through a very short film.
Submissions will be managed through FilmFreeway. Opening dates, deadlines and full entry requirements will be announced here and on our Facebook page.
Make a date for the first Huntingdon Film Festival. Come to discover independent films and be part of a new chapter in the town’s cultural life.
Programme, screening times and ticket information will be announced closer to the event.
